Still run like a neighbourhood parlour, not a chain
The Pooch Parlour opened in 1973, one of only three grooming parlours in Alberton. Suzanne Dantu has led the team since 2003; nine people on the floor, decades of hands-on work with anxious rescues, elderly pets and prize-winning show dogs.
Regulars know names, and it still feels like a neighbourhood parlour.

Do I need to book?
Yes — the parlour runs on appointments, and weekends fill early. Call or WhatsApp 011 907 9339 and we’ll find a slot that suits your pet, including quieter times for anxious or elderly pets.
Do you groom cats and bunnies?
Yes. Cats and rabbits are a regular part of the diary, not a favour. We set extra time and handle them unhurriedly.
When can a puppy have a full groom?
From 18 weeks, once all three vaccinations are done. Until then we offer a while-you-wait nail trim and sanitary trim only, so immunity isn’t put at risk.
How does collection and delivery work?
The Pooch Parlour collects and delivers in Alberton and close surrounding areas within a 20 km radius. Book a day or two ahead. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, please enquire when you book. The van carries blankets in winter and cooler surfaces in summer — no pet travels isolated in the back.
Are the prices on the site final?
They are estimates. Coat condition, temperament, size and how often the pet is groomed all change the time on the table. We’ll confirm when we see your pet.
What if my pet is anxious, old or in pain?
Tell us when you book. We keep special-needs slots and will pause a treatment the moment the pet is no longer comfortable.
